Conventional Fire Alarm Systems
This type of alarm consists of a number of call points and detectors all of which are wired to a fire alarm control panels in zones. The zones can provide information to the fire brigade and your building management team on the general area a fire may be present. The control panel would be wired to a certain amount of sounder circuits which if activated would provide an audible alarm alerting your staff that they need to evacuate the building.
Addressable systems
The way in which this system detects and alerts to a fire being present on the premises is similar to that of a conventional system. The main difference with this system is that the control panel can determine exactly which detector or call point has caused the alarm to be activated. The circuit is wired to a loop which can have up to 99 devices, such as a smoke detector, connected. The sounders work in the same way as the conventional fire alarm system.
Analogue Addressable Systems
There is a wide range of different types of analogue systems which can be determined by the type of protocol which they use. With a true analogue alarm, each detector communicates with the alarm panel and if activated can provide information as to whether or not fire is present, there has been a false alarm or if maintenance such as cleaning is required of the detector head. This type of alarm can assist in reducing the number of false alarms.
Wireless Systems
These types of alarms are a simple yet effective fire alarm system that can be installed without the use of cables. The alarms are fully analogue addressable alarms and the sensors and devices communicate with the control panels through the use of radio communication.
